Hello Oakdale Community, my name is
Ms. Deidre Walbeck
I feel so lucky to be joining you at Oakdale, I am aware Oakdale is such a wonderful, kind community, and I look forward to making Oakdale my home. I want to begin by saying that I realize there is a great deal of uncertainty and stress during this unprecedented time. I want to assure you that I am sensitive to the changes and stress that you must all be dealing with. Please know that I am committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. I am committed to working with Oakdale families and staff to help students continue making excellent academic progress and growth.
When the time is right, I am looking forward to meeting you all and finding out what you love about Oakdale, and what you want for its future. I wanted to share my background and experience briefly. I have been at Copperview Elementary as an Assistant Principal for the last five years. Before my administrative appointment, I worked as a Special Education teacher at Midvale Elementary and as a Teacher Specialist in Canyons Special Education Department.
I have over a decade of experience working with non-profit agencies in which I worked with adults and children with disabilities. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and learning new things. I’ve started taking art classes – I’m no Rembrandt or Picasso, but it’s fun to learn something new.
Again, I look forward to spending time working with you and getting to know you better. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you might have. I am fully committed to finishing this year strong at Copperview, but I am equally committed to making sure you know that I will be working closely with Mrs. Jones and learning all I can about Oakdale. Please contact me with any question at deidre.walbeck@canyonsdistrict.org or at 801.826.8176.
