2018 – 2019 LAND Trust Final Report

For the 2018-2019 school year, Oakdale Elementary continued to identify reading and math as the critical academic need areas.  With funds generated from the School Land Trust monies, allocation of $44,269, Oakdale Elementary hired three reading assistants to work with students in the Tier 2 Reading Intervention Program.  Funds were also used to pay for additional assistant hours in multiple classrooms so that identified students could receive additional interventions in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics.   Identified students in kindergarten through fifth grade received small group, direct instruction for thirty minutes daily, using specific evidence based reading strategies.  The ACADIENCE Curriculum Based Measurement Tool (CBM) is used to measure student achievement. Teachers were also given eight professional development hours to develop centers for mathematics instruction. Student growth in reading and math were assessed three times a year using the ACADIENCE Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) for students in grades K-3 and those students scoring below benchmark on the Reading Inventory (RI) in Grades 4 and 5. The Reading Inventory was used to assess student comprehension three times during the year in grades 3-5.  Oakdale’s academic goals for reading and math for the 2018-2019 school year were:

Reading:

By May of 2019, Oakdale students will demonstrate proficiency of the ELA core standards, in reading fluency and comprehension based on the following criteria:

      • 70% of Kindergarten students will make benchmark on DIBELS* First Sound Fluency (FSF) and Phoneme Segmentation Fluency (PSF).
      • 60% of 1st-3rd grade students will make typical or above typical growth based on Pathways of Progress DIBELS composite measures.
      • 70% of 3rd-5th grade students will make a 100 lexile point gain, or enough growth to remain on benchmark, on the Reading Inventory.

*Please note that the DIBELS name was changed to ACADIENCE.

Math:

By May 2019, Oakdale students will demonstrate proficiency of the Math core standards in math computation based on the following criteria:

      • 75% of 1st-5th grade students will be proficient on the DIBELS computation measure.
