Oakdale Elementary staff and community are so pleased to nominate Jocelyn Cox as Teacher of the Year. Jocelyn is a wonderful member of our school community as a 1st-grade teacher. She is a dedicated professional who is cheerful, positive, and passionate about her craft.
Families in our community have shared many examples of how they’ve seen Jocelyn’s professionalism. “Ms. Cox shows that she is a wonderful teacher in every single way! I love her enthusiasm under hard circumstances with Covid-19. I will never forget that even though I didn’t have any of my kids in her class last school year when the school got shut down due to the pandemic, I saw these cute signs all over the neighborhoods that said, “my teacher misses me Love, Ms. Cox. I remember thinking-wow! That is a teacher who loves her students and goes the extra mile for them! You can tell she loves the students and loves teaching!
Ms. Cox has positive encouragement for her students! She encourages all of her students to work hard and is the cheerleader of their success! She helps them individually, no matter what level they are on currently in any subject. ” Another wrote, ” My student is happy and excited to go to school each day. My child is sensitive and can often become hurt quickly, but all he talks about is goodness and fun in Miss Cox’s class. Although I haven’t been able to volunteer in the classroom, I can feel her positive classroom through my child. I also love the social media posts that bring us right into the classroom in a safe way.”
One co-worker describer Jocelyn’s as ” constantly goes above and beyond for her young students. She genuinely loves her students, and it shows within her classroom. Her students adore her, and the parents of her students love her, which says a lot about a teacher. It is one thing if you can win the heart of a student, but if you win the parent, you must be pretty amazing. She is overly prepared, and her classroom runs like a well-oiled machine.”
We are happy to recognize Jocelyn Cox as our Teacher of the Year who helps to make Oakdale Elementary a wonderful place to be.
