Based upon the sales made between 5 - 7 p.m. Chick-fil-A will make a donation to our school in honor of our fantastic teachers! Peace - Love - Chicken

Wednesday, May 2nd - Far-Out Folder File Boxes will be placed in each classroom.
Parents and Students feel free to bring a small gift/note of thanks and place in the teacher's file folder box.

Friday, May 4th - Children wear your teacher's favorite color (Teacher's Favorite's list will be coming). One child from each classroom will be chosen by their teacher and will win a prize! Peace - Love - Rockin Roadrunners

Monday, April 16th through Friday, April 20th join Oakdale in donating Coins For Kenya!

Right now, kids in Kenya are spending their school day on the floor. We can help build school desks for those kids for just $25 a desk. If each class at Oakdale can collect $17, we can fill an entire classroom! 100% of the money you donate will go toward paying local carpenters in Kenya to build the desks. The Oakdale SCC is excited to announce a tile art wall coming to Oakdale! This tile project will consist of 4x4 tiles decorated by the students, families and faculty of Oakdale. It will be constructed in the front entry of our school, replacing one of the bulletin boards. This is your opportunity to contribute to a permanent art project that the students and patrons of Oakdale will be able to enjoy for years to come. Click here for more information

It Only Takes a Few Minutes to Help Us Keep Arts in Utah Schools

The 2012 Utah legislative session began Monday, and over the next several weeks the future of the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (BTSALP) will be determined. Now is the most crucial time for our advocacy efforts, and we need you to make sure your voice is heard and that your representatives know just how important arts education is to you and your family.

Please take the time to use our simple tool (http://www.artworksforkids.org/find-your-legislators) to write your legislators and ask that they keep arts education a priority in the upcoming budget. It only takes a few short minutes, but it can have a huge impact on the fate of this program.

Local media has taken note of how effective this program is, and recently KSL reporter Carole Mikita visited William Penn Elementary, where the school’s art specialist was teaching 6th graders about medieval feudal systems using dance. One aspect of the BTSALP that makes it so successful is having the arts specialists work side-by-side with the classroom teachers to create art lessons that incorporate what is already being taught in the classroom. Don't wait to register for 2012-2013 Kindergarten. Parents can let our office know immediately if their children will be attending Oakdale in the Fall of 2012. Let Neighbors and other community members know as well.

Please inform the office now until February 29, 2012. Accurate student counts helps with class planning and purchasing of textbooks and supplies.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Science Fair

We had a successful science fair for fifth and sixth grade on Jan. 27th. The Oakdale finalists will compete at Canyons District science fair at Jordan High School from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Feb. 14th. The public is welcome to come support them. The finalists are listed below:

On a different note, Oakdale is proud to partner with the American Heart Association to help kids with special hearts. Mark your calendars now. Our upcoming Jump Rope for Heart event is taking place on Thursday, March 1, 2012. You can help the American Heart Association by helping your child make a web page. It’s safe, effective, and saves you time for raising life-saving donations online. Visit www.heart.org/jump and click on ‘students Sign Up’ to get started today. We will be handing out donation envelopes for people wishing to donate as has been done in the past. Please make a note that 76% of all money raised goes directly to help children with heart conditions.Oakdale Families and Community Members,

We want to thank you all for your generosity as the Oakdale Peer Leadership Team and Oakdale students raised gifts and money for 10 Oakdale families. Through the giving of our students and families, we were able to provide Christmas presents, clothes, and food for each member of these families. In addition to the overwhelming response to the giving tree, Candy-gram sales raised $400.00 net profit. This money will be used to help Oakdale families in need later in the year. I especially want to thank the 5th and 6th grade students of the P.L.T. They have worked tirelessly to help make all this possible. We are overcome by your profound generosity and want to thank everyone who helped make it possible for these families to have worry-free holidays.
